In a surprising turn of events, celebrated actor Robert De Niro has embraced fatherhood once again, this time at the ripe age of 79.
The news broke when De Niro himself spilled the beans during a candid conversation with ET Canada, proving that age is but a number when it comes to expanding one’s family.
According to a statement given to Sky News by his spokesperson, this latest addition marks the seventh child for De Niro.
The baby joins a diverse and dynamic family, bridging a significant age gap with De Niro’s firstborn, Drena, who is now 51 years old.
The De Niro family tree is indeed a sprawling one, with roots extending through two marriages and now seven children.
Drena and her brother Raphael, 46, hail from De Niro’s marriage to his first wife, Diahnne Abbott.
His second marriage brought Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11, into the fold, along with twins Aaron and Julian, who are 27.
Notably, De Niro is also a grandfather to four, adding yet another layer to his extensive familial network.
The revelation came about somewhat unexpectedly.
Interviewer Brittnee Blair, under the impression De Niro had six children, was promptly corrected by the actor.
“Seven, actually,” De Niro interjected, before casually dropping the news, “I just had a baby.”
Beyond the announcement, De Niro shared some insights into his parenting philosophy with ET Canada.
Despite his tough-guy roles on screen, he strives for a balance of love and discipline at home.
